Academic Success and Progress

• Once again, Cobb students graduated at a higher rate than the prior graduating class and their peers across the state. In 2023, the Cobb County School District graduation rate increased to 87.7%, topping Georgia’s graduation rate of 84.4 by 3.3 percentage points. Both Cobb and the state graduation rates rose 0.3 percentage points higher than in 2022. • The Cobb Class of 2023 included more than 8,286 graduates, who earned nearly $135 million in scholarships, which dwarfed the year before by about $29 million. Read more here.
• With a SAT mean score of 1,104 out of a maximum possible 1,600 points, Cobb students led the state’s SAT average of 1,045 by 59 points and the national average of 1,003 by 101 points. The scores include the most recent for each student expected to graduate in 2023. Read more here.
• Like the SAT and graduation rate, Cobb students again outpaced their peers across Georgia and the nation. This year, Cobb students posted a 22.7 ACT average, 1.4 points above the state’s average of 21.3 and 3.2 points higher than the national ACT average of 19.5. • Located immediately northwest of Atlanta, Cobb County has a population of 755,754 making it Georgia's third most-populous county.
• 42.2% of residents 25 and older have earned bachelor’s degrees or higher.
• Cobb has a self-contained public transportation system and is trisected by three major interstates. The business and shopping districts feature the Galleria Centre and Cumberland Mall in the south, and Town Center Mall to the north.
• Established in 1834, Marietta is the hub of Cobb County and is a vibrant city with a bustling downtown square, historic neighborhoods and an extensive parks and recreation system.
• Hundreds of businesses are based in Cobb County, including Fortune 500 companies Lockheed Martin, The Home Depot and IBM.
• Cobb is home to Kennesaw State University one of the state’s fastest-growing public universities.
• With venues such as the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, two Six Flags theme parks, and Fifth Third Bank Stadium at KSU, a variety of cultural, recreational and sporting events take place in Cobb year-round. The Atlanta Braves baseball club joined the community in 2017. The new stadium is located in south Cobb County.

• Magnet program at Pebblebrook High School within the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA) offers specialized instruction in voice, drama, dance, and musical theatre.

The Cobb County Visual Arts Program empowers all learners as creators and communicators through the visual arts.

• 20,000+ students enrolled in visual arts elective programs: middle school art, 8th grade advanced art, high school visual arts courses including AP Drawing, AP 2D Design, AP 3D Design, and AP Art History.
• 49,000+ elementary students receive visual arts instruction.
• Participation in over 300 art exhibits and contests at the local, state, and national level
• Collaboration with community artists, local museums and galleries, and area universities.

More than 890 Cobb seniors received Fine Arts Diploma Seals in 2022. Requirements include pathway completion in music, dance, theatre, or visual arts, fine arts community service, and performance and exhibition commitments.
